Koumaros, Tinos

Island feast

Every 17 August, on the feast of the Vangelistra chapel, Koumaros dances to live island music until dawn.

The island feast is the great festival of Koumaros. It is held on 17 August, as part of the celebrations of the Virgin Mary: after the Divine Liturgy at the chapel of the Vangelistra, the village dances to live island music until dawn. Some years it moved by a day or two. It was not held from 2020 to 2022 because of the pandemic, and returned in 2023.

It is not the same as the Association’s feast day, the Transfiguration of the Saviour on 6 August, with a family party on the eve, 5 August. All dates are on the events page.
